I love this image for the clutter around the focal point (the skull) that guides your eye out from the focal point around it. The letters and clutter nicely irises around the center point. I feel that because the skull in centered, with all the objects piled around it, it forces your eye to that first. I like how everything is in focus, and the warm temperature of the photo with all the hues of browns and ambers. I also like this image for the story, with concentration, you can find the sentiment in each object/letter through the words written on them.
This photo is from the Somerset field trip. I took this photograph via placing my lens through the window of a dollhouse and photographing what I saw. Shooting through the framing and the miniature blinds created a very hazy, almost distorted looking photo and framed the main focal point of the image- the doll. In editing, I felt that changing my photograph to black and white, and also adding grain would enhance the mood of the doll.
This photo is also from the Somerset field trip as well. I like this photo for how abstract it looks because of its shallow depth of field. In the upper portion of the photo, the blur in the background creates interesting swirls and patterns. I appreciate how the contrast between my blacks and whites are very stark. Why favorite part of the photo is the detail in the twist of the black string in the small part in which it is focused, especially how it's right on the third of the picture.
This photo was taken as a part of my scan assignment. I appreciate this one for the colors and intense warping and how abstract it is. The colors and the black negative space sticks out against it. I like how the lights flashing against the keys while they were moving created vibrant colors and rainbows. The cool temperature of the photo adds mystery or a sci-fi feel to the photograph. I was able to enhance the cool temperatures through using the Camera Raw Filter on photoshop.
This photograph is an arrangement piece. My favorite aspect of it is the colors. The soft, feminine pink against the aquamarine plastic dinosaurs creates a contextual contrast along with a visual one. I also like how the dinosaurs are arranged in descending order of size. The texture of the dinosaurs worked well in this photography due to their being a large depth of field- making sure everything is in focus.
This photograph was from my midyear photo essay. From this essay I focused on vintage decay, and the colors blue and yellow. I tried to recreate the aesthetic of photographers like William Eggleston and Stephen Shore. Through photoshop I used the camera raw filter to modestly adjust images and keep them as true to the OOC result as possible. Then, to achieve a more aesthetically pleasing feeling I shot with both a high ISO and added noise in editing.
This is a photo I took out of school. I like this photo best for it's color. I like how the door is on the furthest third of the photo and I like the different shapes that are created by the doors it's self. The doors and the way their shapes are so prominent blocks off the brick wall nicely making an interesting design. Even though this building clearly isn't created for, I feel that since the graffiti is so crisp it communicates reinvention and grace in destruction. In editing, I brought up the clarity to bring out the texture in the brick ad I also adjusted the color balance to enhance the red tones in the photo.
This photograph was taken during the Walden field trip. I took the photograph of Walden with my lens looking through a glass case, and I utilized the glare of the glass to create visually interesting reflections and shapes. I used a low F-stop number to make the background of my subject extremely blurred. In editing, I cropped the image of the bust to just be to eyes to give the sense of emotion. I also used Camera Raw Filter to increase the vibrancy of the colors and up the warm temperature of the image.
I feel like the sentiment from the Salem photograph is conveyed through this image as well, especially with how the subject is centered. The sentiment is replicated because of the small clutters of pencils and pennies surrounding her grave. The contrast and saturation of the cool colored green and purple flowers against the warm colored ground and bright tombstone makes the image visually interesting. In editing, I used the camera raw filter to adjust the colors and clarity to bring out the raindrops on the tulips.
I like this image for how bright the logs are and it's pattern. The symmetry and pattern created by this makes the photo visually appealing to look at. I also like how the golden tone of the logs stand out against the browns and grays in the background. I really like the warm temperature of the photograph. I'm editing, I added a very slight vignette to bring emphasis to the middle of the photo.
